Bomgardner Residence
The clients desired a home that would celebrate the views of the Saratoga Passage, Olympic Mountains and forested region surrounding the property. They wanted to use materials that would create a flow and beauty reflective of the nature encompassing the home. Simple materials such as concrete and steel, while often used structurally, were detailed for visual interest. An interior second story concrete bridge connects the concrete and steel stairs to the master suite. Upon reaching the master suite, a large glass shower unconventionally awaits just beyond the door. Adhering to the clients desires to embrace a natural and open environment, the glass shower with its concrete base sits as the focal point for the room. The use of concrete and steel is contrasted by the warmth of adjacent natural-finished wood floors and beams throughout the home’s interiors. The variety of views, contrast in material use and open floor plan in this 4,500 square foot home truly allow the home to embrace and reflect the environment surrounding it.
