The Montgomery residence sits atop a 100' bank on the west side of Camano Island. The owners, who were relocating from Seattle to the Camano property, were determined to enjoy the view afforded by their property. To make that vision a reality, Pelletier + Schaar created a design that would allow a spectacular view of the Saratoga Passage and San Juan Islands from nearly every room in the house. The use of natural, warm materials, expansive decks, French doors and a plethora of windows truly brings the outdoors in. A soaring 19’ dry-laid Montana Argolite masonry fireplace and three exposed timber trusses add a cozy feel to the open living space. The contrast of material use in the Montana slate and natural oak against the striking limestone kitchen floor creates a warm and aesthetic appeal unique to this home.
